beautifully crafted onsens, picturesque mountain setting, authentic ryokan atmosphere
A few more transportation options would enhance accessibility!!! Also, the paper sliding doors really do little for noise insulation. It's like sharing your room with the entire hallway!!!

Staying here was wonderful! We loved exploring the scenic walking trails and found the food absolutely delicious. The warm hospitality from the staff made us feel right at home, which is especially important when traveling with a young baby.
In my wife’s opinion, a family lounge area would be great.

The tatami mats were unique and culturally immersive.
My room was more rustic than I expected. The sliding paper doors provided no sound insulation, making it difficult to sleep with noisy neighbors. The walls showed significant wear, and the tatami hadn't been replaced in some time, which made the experience less enjoyable.

Nestled at the end of a quiet road, the atmosphere is enchanting, surrounded by a rushing river and dense forest. The traditional dining experience featuring authentic Japanese dishes was a highlight, complemented by the exceptional service from the staff, who even assisted with transportation logistics. The onsens were a true sanctuary, especially the outdoor bath, combining a rustic feel with modern comfort. It's a unique experience that captures the essence of Japan's bathing culture.

Staying at Houshi Onsen Chojukan was a nice experience! The traditional charm and serene location captivated me. Despite my room being slightly rustic and that thin walls let in some noise, the very nice onsen and delicious meals made it worthwhile. I left feeling rejuvenated!

Beautiful old buildings and lovely onsens. However, staff struggled with basic requests, which made me uncomfortable. The location is stunning, and the outdoor onsen is a must-try.
